We are Cali bound, as David says California or bust!!  We left home this morning around 8 a.m.  Not the earliest start but one goal we have is to not to have to HURRY!  With that in mind we didn't drive any interstate.  Most of the roads were really good except for maybe a couple.  The route we took would not be one to take in bad weather because its so sparsely populated.  Hardly had any traffic so it was a very peaceful ride.  We stopped in the little town of Oakley Kansas at a Pizza Hut.  From there we continued on Hwy 40 to Kit Carson then down to Eads before getting onto 383 to Trinidad Colorado which is where we stopped for the night.  We could have went farther but we would miss some beautiful mountain scenery if we did.  Trinidad sits in the foothills just north of the New Mexico border.  We checked into the LaQuinta and then took a drive out to Trinidad Lake.  Saw the mining town of Cokedale where they mined coke out of the coal mines here until the 1940's.  Its really pretty here.  The picture above is of Trinidad Lake.  We have decided that we would like to get to the Grand Canyon tomorrow evening.  Aunt Pat said that the color of the canyon at sunset and sunrise is truly beautiful.  Originally we had thought we would go to Prescott first and then to the Grand Canyon before heading on to Pacifica.  We will spend the afternoon and overnight with Aunt Pat Wednesday night then leave Thursday from there.

We were so sorry to hear that Neha lost her Nani this morning.  She was quite elderly and not in very good health for the last several years but it always hits us hard even when expecting it.  Please think and pray for Neha.  It's hard to be so far from family.  She won't try to go to India because of the remote area her Nani lived would make for a very long journey.

Hope you enjoy this blog.  This way I will have a record of our travels and I won't have to write so many text messages.  Love you all!
